Managing Dentist Practices : How to Have a Constant Flow of Dental Patients

Filed under: how to choose a dentist — Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , — @ 8:46 pm

Keeping a constant flow of patients for the growth of your dentist practices as you are managing it could be quite a challenge. The reality is that even the greatest dentist in the world goes broke without a constant stream of new patients who pay, stay and refer in their practice. Now, the question is “How do you cope up with this fact in the growth of your dentist practices as you are managing it?”. In this article, I am going to share with you strategies on how to deal with such a challenge as you are managing the growth of your dentist practices.

Creating A Constant Stream Of Specific High Quality Patients :

Creating a constant stream of specific high quality new patients is one important strategy in managing your dentist practices. If you are attracting the precise type of patients that you want to come into your practice, who accept your treatment recommendations (and if these patients refer as well), this is going to be a good start for you in your business. You have to keep the flow of new fresh patients coming in to your practice to promote the growth of your business.

Reactivating Patients :

The hidden goldmine within your practice is always the inactive and unfinished treatment base. What you should do is go after this hidden goldmine as you are managing the growth of your dentist practices. This can be done through many ways:

l send out 3 step to 4 step direct mail campaign;

l offer your patients credits towards any cosmetic dentistry (credit any kind of whitening,etc.);

l do voice broadcast to your patients’ homes or phone calls (this always works tremendously); or

l go for e-mails ( the use of e-mails as a multimedia approach is one of the most powerful way to do it!).

Creating A Referral System :

Creating a referral system that gets people to bring a flood of referrals to your practice can be another strategy to promote growth in your dentist practices as you are managing it. If the referral system is based on your own efforts, then you do not have a true system in place. Having a great referral system means having a system that is team-generated and team-oriented. The team has a responsibility and accountability for those results as well.

Getting Patients To Choose More Services From You :

Getting existing patients to choose more services from you is another good strategy to promote growth in your dentist practices as you are managing it. Many people overlook the fact that whether you do an Invisalign, implants, veneers, TMJ… it really doesn’t matter. You think your patients know this stuff because it’s your life, but they really don’t; because they’re so busy dealing with their own lives. Pick one or two of your services a month that you want to promote through your newsletter, postcard or e-mail. It is necessary that you make sure you remind your patients the other services that you have. And doing will get you more patients to choose more of your services, and also you get more word of mouth by just talking to your existing patients about the services that you have and what problems they solve (by doing this, existing patients will refer people more often).

As you are managing your dentist practices, always remember these strategies, for these will give you a constant flow of patients in your practice. And it will also help you in the growth of your dentist practices as well.

Say Goodbye to Missing Teeth With Dental Implant Surgery

Filed under: laser dentists — Tags: , , , , , , , , — @ 10:14 pm

When an adult experiences the loss of a tooth, whether from injury, tooth decay or gum disease, the resulting empty space can be more than just embarrassing. The tooth loss can make it difficult for the person to talk or eat and can even lead to a collapsed jawbone. While dentures and bridges can be implemented to correct these empty spaces, they have disadvantages, such as damaging existing healthy teeth, leading to bone loss or resulting in denture slippage.

More and more patients are turning to surgical dental implants as an alternative, permanent way to correct a missing tooth or even several teeth. Rather than relying on existing healthy teeth to anchor bridges, dental implants incorporate a titanium metal implant that is placed directly into the jawbone. This implant operates like a tooth root and extends just above the gumline where an extension (or abutment) is attached. This extension makes it possible to permanently attach an artificial tooth or crown that is designed to match your smile. Over time the implant becomes part of the jawbone making dental implants almost as good as having your own teeth.

What considerations go into dental implants?

A qualified cosmetic dentist can evaluate your smile to determine whether or not you are a candidate for dental implants. Comprehensive x-rays and exams will identify if you have:

· Generally healthy gums and tissues

· Sufficient, mature jawbone in which to position the implants*

· Satisfactory overall health to ensure proper healing

*Patients who do not have sufficient jawbone can still be candidates for dental implants. Bone grafting allows these patients to undergo a preliminary surgery to create a thicker or stronger base to which the implant can be attached. In bone grafting, new bone material is placed into the gum and secured with titanium screws. The bone material can be part of the patient’s own body, such as the chin, lower jaw or hipbone. Or the bone material can come from an external source, such as cow bone, cadavers or synthetic materials. The new bone material is packed with bone marrow and other materials, covered with a barrier membrane to promote healing and stitched closed.

How long does the dental implant process take?

Regardless of how healthy your jawbone is, dental implant surgery requires the patient to devote 7-12 months of time to complete the process. The surgical process of placing the titanium metal implant into the jawbone can be done in a cosmetic dentist’s office. Once the implant is in place, the jawbone needs time to fuse with the implant in order to create a strong root for the crown. Every patient’s healing time is different, but generally it will take approximately six months for the root to be ready for the extension.

During this waiting period, the cosmetic dentist may provide the patient with a temporary denture to use until the permanent tooth is attached.

Some cosmetic dentists will place the dental implant extension (the unit to which the crown is attached) at the same time as the implant. However, it is not uncommon for the extension placement to be a second surgery. The healing time of this minor surgery is generally two weeks.

When your gums and jawbone are properly healed and ready for the new tooth, more impressions will be made of the existing smile so the new tooth can be made. Once the new tooth (crown) is made, it is permanently attached to the extension.

If a bone graft is required, this process may take an additional 6-12 months for the new bone to be strong enough for the implant to be placed.
